jobs and snow

I decided to quit my job this week. With training hard, working on my feet during the day, and getting up at 5 am, I simply wasn't getting a thing done with trying to start a personal chef service. More and more people were asking what I had gotten done with my new plan and I always had to say, "nothing." I will have some "down time" between jobs while I try to get this thing going, but I think it will work out okay. It felt liberating to quit actually and I am definitely ready for a change, so I think it will be good. My boss is not happy about me leaving and asked if he could do anything to change my mind. Nope.

The past couple weeks have been so cold here. It has been impossible to ride outside, so I've actually done a lot of trainer time, which is something I do not particularly enjoy. I was getting excited driving home today because the roads were getting clearer, so, of course, it snowed some more!

Check out this video from Portland this week - nasty roads:

on New Year's Eve.

more snow

My body is a bit shocked from my first week of training. We managed to get outside every day, except today. The forecast called for a "flurry" this afternoon - now we have about five inches! Our plan was to head to Seattle tomorrow, but now we're not sure if we'll be going this weekend. I'm not too happy about this white stuff.

We didn't do too much for New Year's - just walked downtown to a couple of bars. With all of the students still gone for break, it's pretty quiet around here, which is fine with me. Ted got some Gosling's rum to make a Dark and Stormy, which is the national drink of Bermuda. It's a mixture of dark rum and ginger beer. They're pretty good if the proportions are right.

Tomorrow is my day off and I am definitely looking forward to sleeping in. I'm definitely not setting an alarm tomorrow.
